As we usually do, we’ll be marking the Advent season, leading up to Christmas, with a series of Advent Meditations on Wednesday evenings in church. These will begin on 29th November – before Advent Sunday itself, which falls late this year – and will start at 7.00pm and last just half an hour or so. It’s hoped that the timing and the brevity of them will enable plenty of people to attend but still have the rest of the evening free for other commitments. They will involve themed readings, music, reflection and silence, and offer a time of quiet in the middle of the week, as we travel through this special but busy season. All are encouraged to come along – and do invite a friend along too.
We will also be offering, as we traditionally do, an Advent book. These will be available for sale, so that anyone can get their copy and read it at home. There will be a short Bible passage given for each day, with some commentary and reflection, and suggestions for prayer and contemplation, all to help us to make sense of the meaning and wonder of Advent and Christmas. More details will be available in the Takeaway and the website.
