Baptism and Confirmation

Baptisms (sometimes called ‘christenings’) are lovely occasions at which we welcome young children (or people of any age) as members of the Norbury church family. If you are interested in having your child baptised or if you are older and would like to be baptised you can come to church any Saturday morning between 9.30am – 10.30am when we can chat it through. If you don’t live in the parish we would encourage you to arrange the baptism at your own parish church unless there is a very specific reason for coming to Norbury.

Each year we hold a confirmation service at Norbury, which gives those who were baptised as children the opportunity to affirm the promises made for them by their parents and godparents and to declare their desire to follow Jesus. We run a short course each year prior to the service to prepare people for this important step. If you are interested in being confirmed, please contact Richard Lawry on 0161 483 8640.

You will find more information about the practicalities and the meaning of the baptism and confirmation services on the Church of England website by visiting the following link: http://www.churchofengland.org/weddings-baptisms-funerals/baptism-confirmation.aspx

Funerals

We believe that every life is precious to God and that there is hope in death as in life. A funeral service gives us the opportunity to acknowledge our real sense of grief and loss and to share memories of our loved one with love and thanksgiving. Whether you would like to hold a funeral service at Norbury Church or at a local crematorium (usually, but not always, Stockport), one of our clergy would be glad to conduct the service as well as helping you to plan it beforehand and offering continuing support afterwards. You should contact a funeral director initially, who will then contact us. Weddings

Norbury is a lovely venue for weddings and we aim to help make the day a very special, personal, meaningful and spiritual experience. The rather strict rules as to who can marry at a particular church have been relaxed in the past few years to make it easier for couples to hold their wedding in a church that has great significance for them. If you would like to chat through the possibility of having your wedding at Norbury you can come to church any Saturday between 9.30am – 10.30am. You can find lots more information about planning your wedding on the Church of England website by visiting the following link: http://www.churchofengland.org/weddings-baptisms-funerals/weddings.aspx
