October Quiet Space – 25 October at 7:30pm

Our next Quiet Space is this Tuesday, 25th October, at 7.30pm in church when we will reflecting on the theme of ‘The God of friendship’. There will be plenty of time for silence and music to aid our reflection. All are very welcome

Choral Evensong 21 October at 3:30pm

A notable afternoon is coming up on Sunday 21st October. Choral Evensong, with its traditional beauty and special music from the choir (partly on a Harvest theme), will start at 3.30, and be followed by refreshments (tea & autumn cakes!) laid on by the Social Team in the Legh Room. Do join us for this seasonal celebration and fellowship.

Mothers’ Union Autumn Lunch 19 October at 1pm

Norbury Mothers’ Union Evening Group invite you to their Autumn Lunch on Friday, 19th October in the Legh Room at 1 pm in aid of MU Projects. Tickets cost £6.00 and will be available after the 10.15 am service.

Pilgrim Course Starting 2nd or 3rd October

Fancy discovering more about the Bible – what it is and how to use it? That’s
the focus of our next Pilgrim Course module, starting in October (from Tues
2nd at 2.00 or Wed 3rd at 8.00) for 6 weekly sessions. Film and audio clips,
group discussion, Bible reflection and prayer. No need to have done any
previous modules. All welcome. Sign-up sheet available soon.

Taize Service 30 September at 6pm

Please join us at Evening Worship on Sunday 30th September when we’ll once again use the songs and adopt the style of the Taize Community around the theme of ‘I am the true vine’. Though the service will begin at 6.30pm there’s a rehearsal of the chants, some of which may be unfamiliar, at 6.00pm. Everyone warmly welcome.

Autumn Plant Sale

Order forms are now available in the Narthex for our Autumn Plant Sale in aid of Puppets and Children and Young People’s groups at church. Orders and payment required by 23rd September and collection is on Saturday 6th October 9am – 11am.

Norbury Shoeboxes Update

The Shoebox team have now filled 55 shoeboxes which will soon be collected by International Aid Trust and distributed to children living in poverty. We plan to fill a lot more boxes over the next few months. We would welcome donations of exercise books, brushes, combs, toothpaste and small (but not tiny) toys suitable for girls aged 2-4 years. Knitters, we have enough hats but need mittens and hand puppets – we have patterns if you need one.

Christian Aid Week

We raised a fantastic £3,439.64. for this year’s appeal. Thank you so much to all those who helped in any way. Sainsbury’s bucket collection – £307; donations – £1,316; Cakes – £115.50; Walk – £555; street collections – £1,146.14. The gift-aiding will also add to this. The extent of Norbury’s involvement means we really undertake a Christian Aid month! Thank you.

Rainbow Sale – Stockport Deanery Mothers’ Union

Many thanks to everyone who supported our Rainbow Sale on the 6th July. We enjoyed
an afternoon of great fellowship and £515.60 was sent to the Summer of Hope Appeal
supporting communities around the World.
