Paul Moores, the new Regional Manager for The Leprosy Mission (TLM), will give us the latest info on its world vision, recent successes and further plans. With limited resources they still manage to cover half the world and hope to increase this significantly. There will be film of the locations where TLM is active, especially interviews with doctors from Perulia Hospital who depend so much on our support.
On 22nd May it will be one year since the Manchester bomb that killed 22 people. Our Quiet Space reflection this month takes place on the anniversary of the bombing and will take the form of a service of reflection and remembrance. All are very welcome to share this service on 22nd May at 7.30pm
This will take place in the afternoon. Soup & Sandwiches will be served at 1.00 pm (tickets £2.50 from Florence Barlow), followed by a Presentation by Angela Klabou of her time as Diocesan Secretary & President. All are welcome to come and hear more about all the interesting projects in which MU is involved.
3, 6 or 8 mile walks start from St. Martin’s Church Hall, Higher Poynton between 10am and 11am. Registration is free but adults are expected to raise at least £10 in sponsorship (or sponsor yourself.) For Gift Aid purposes, please give this money to Kathleen. Dimitrios Kechagias has offered to demonstrate and teach us some Greek dancing and share his experiences. Greek nibbles during the break. There is no entry fee, donations welcome. Please assist us with numbers by signing up on the sheet in the narthex if you are attending.
As usual, we will be marking this major festival in the Church’s year with a Communion service at 7.30pm. All are very welcome.
Bishop Libby will be leading a day of prayer for our Stockport Deanery on Friday 4th May. Members from all churches will start from Norbury at 2.30pm and walk down (or take the bus) to central Stockport, stopping for prayer in various places (inc Stepping Hill). Evening at St Mary’s in the marketplace: pizza for walkers/bus-riders at 6.00pm; and later at 7.30pm a time of worship and prayer for our town. Please join us for any or all of the day, and let Richard Lawry know if you’ll be eating.
