We have two toddler groups at Norbury, on Wednesday and Thursday mornings during term time from 10am – 11.30am. Toddler group sessions at Norbury are a frenzy of activity, with children playing happily and parents, grandparents and carers all catching up over a cup of tea or coffee and from the moment the first child arrives the fun begins.
What happens during the sessions?
The children relish the wide variety of age-and stage-related toys that we have on offer. They can be found cooking a gourmet meal, building the tallest building possible, sitting looking at a book quietly or creating a Duplo jungle. If they are not engrossed in the toys they are found at the craft table where each week there is a different craft for them to try or pictures to colour.
Towards the end of the session children and adults tidy furiously, before the wonderful strains of singing can be heard as we all sit down for 10 minutes of their favourite songs. If a child has had a birthday that week then we get to share their excitement (or confusion) as they receive their card and are serenaded.
Grown ups too!
Toddler group is not just for the children, it is for parents, grandparents and carers too, it gives the chance for the adults to interact with other adults whilst playing with their children, and in a happy and safe environment. A great many friendships have been formed at Norbury toddler group, that are still going strong many years on, and this isn’t just between the children but between adults too.
The wonderful thing about our group is the links it has with other church activities. Many of the families attend Messy Church, and as the children get a bit older they start to come to our annual Holiday Club and Sunday Club. They’ll even see Cath when they eventually start school, as she visits lots of the local primary schools to lead assemblies.
Toddler group is the start of a wonderful adventure here at Norbury…
Toddler group is run by Cath our children’s worker and a team of wonderful volunteers in the kitchen, and costs only £2 per session.
We have places at both groups so please either just come along or feel free to contact Cath first by email at [email protected] or by telephone 0161 487 2390.
Groups will not be meeting on 23rd & 24th October due to the school holidays
